OUR HISTORY
In 1998, Pete Wheeler began analyzing his working relationships with accountants and other advisors. He realized that there was a real need for an efficient system of communication between advisors for the benefit of their mutual clients. He recognized that the relationship among a client’s trusted advisors was most often an inefficient and lengthy data sharing process that was not well suited for the advisors or their wealth management clients. This inefficiency was particularly noticeable in the relationships with accountants at “tax time” where clients act as the middlemen between their financial professionals. In fact, in most cases, the client is in the middle managing his professional relationships.
Pete examined a vast variety of wealth management software programs and Application Service Providers (ASP) in search of the perfect sharing environment for financial professionals. He discovered that these programs are geared towards advisors sharing information with their clients, not working more efficiently with other professionals. He set out to develop a platform that would meet the need to efficiently share pertinent client information between financial professionals. In February of 2000, the idea of FamilyOfficeNetwork® was born in order to provide independent financial professionals with a unique Internet based approach to offering comprehensive wealth management services to their high-net-worth clients, while maintaining their independence and continuing to work within their specialty. By 2004, FamilyOfficeNetwork® had become a fully functioning tool and has been adding users and features ever since.
